After several hours of sewing and pinning and ironing, my baby blankets are finished. I had a bit of trouble with the first one because the fabric kept slipping off of the table when I was trying to sewing a straight line but the second one went much more smoothly. This is my last sewing project that I am going to do for our 20% assignment and I am happy to say that I feel pretty confident using a sewing machine. In the future I think I will continue to make small things like maybe a skirt or more baby blankets. Sewing is pretty time consuming and very detail oriented so I am not sure this will become my new passion. However, I am glad that I chose sewing for this project because sewing is a very useful skill that I am sure I will be able to use in the future. Below are some pictures of my finished blankets. I have given one of them to my sister in law and so far baby Samantha loves it!

Thank you for sharing your project with us Sra. Parker! The blanket you made is very cute, and clearly your niece loves it. When I was in the eighth grade, I took a semester of family and consumer studies. In that class we had to sew a pair of shorts using a sewing machine. I remember sewing the hem forwards and doing a fairly decent job at keeping the stitching straight, but when I had to run the fabric backwards through the sewing machine I was unable to keep the stitching straight. I ended up with stitching that made a sinusoidal wave. I'm glad that you did a much better job than I would have! My grandmother did a lot of crochet when she was younger, and it seems to me that she always had a blanket or afghan on which she was working. She often gave them as gifts at baby and wedding showers. Perhaps you'll continue making blankets and give them away as gifts. Keep up the good work!

I think the blanket turned out great! And I have to agree with you, I do not think my project will become my new passion, but it is a good learning experience. I think your newfound abilities will be great handmade gifts for any new additions to your family. :)

The blankets look awesome and baby Samantha seems to be impressed. I agree with everyone else that for me baking may not be my new passion but I am happy I completed it and you should be happy with your final product!
